All proceeds from the Joe DiMaggio Award Dinner go to assist learning-disabled students, as well as academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students attend Xaverian High School and the Loyola School in New York City . Located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn , Xaverian is a private, nonsectarian boys' school that boasts over a 98 percent graduation rate for its seniors. The school is open to boys of all faiths and backgrounds. As part of its stellar national academic reputation, Xaverian is one of only three schools in New York to host the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Students who successfully complete its rigorous curriculum are eligible to enter Ivy League schools as sophomores. The Ryken Educational Center, established in 1994 and formerly known as the REACH Program integrates the very best resources of Xaverian High School with a highly trained team of teachers and counselors who are committed to transforming learning disabled students into effective, life-long learners. The Ryken Center is an intensive, small-group, self-contained program for students whose documented disabilities indicate such a need. All courses run parallel to the mainstream and students are advanced by subject, as they demonstrate competence in those areas. |
